Note: this page will grow into a small group of pages, displaying links by category.
• MieNet's Welfare & Charity – Daily news on Charity & Philanthropy Related issues, helpful links, free stuff (including music & graphics), plus support of valuable causes. Link exchanges with like-minded sites are welcome. • Family Friendly Fun – ideas and family health resources enhance the quality of family life for families with disabilities. (Worth your visit!) • Soul Progress – This beautifully designed site is maintained by the Living Love Fellowship. The site's aim, as announced on-line, is to offer support to ordinary people who are in search of spirituality, in whichever form [s]he recognizes it in his/her heart, and offer support, as well, in the development of beauty and balance as a natural expression of one's life and sense of being. It is further announced that they are not committed to any creed, in particular, but rather committed to Loving and to God. Among their underlying values, imparted on-line, is their understanding that “human relationship and spirituality are, in essence, inseparable.” There are Free courses, available on-line, including the optional accompaniment of a private tutor (at no charge, it is announced). A personal reply is promised to each visitor who contacts them with a question/comment. Additionally, I have noticed that the site includes a Message Board. The Group is likewise interested in helping people help others. Their pages include wisdom that is rare to find spelled out in simple, friendly language, these days. The site is certainly worth a visit. Incidentally, a small part of this site is available also in Spanish (una parte está disponible también en español). • Faith Crisis – Likewise managed by the Living Love Fellowship, this Web site offers support in crisis areas such as faith in God, in Life, in Self, in Others, and in Organization. Even if you need no help in these areas, I'm sure you'll enjoy dropping by! • Metareligion – This large, multidisciplinary site "is a collection of articles from different sites on the web," aiming at "promot[ing] a multidisciplinary view of the religious, spiritual and esoteric phenomena," as stated on-line. To this aim, it includes subjects that "can help us understand religions, spirituality and esoteric beliefs." The site is divided in two large parts, one religious-, the other scientific-oriented, each of which accessible from a unique sub-homepage. The religious part aims at "promot[ing] religious tolerance and a better understing of several branches of human culture," whereas the science part is devoted "to provid[ing] the tools to understand religious, esoteric, paranormal and extreme beliefs," with the aid of "[1] Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy and Philosophy, [which] are essential to understand reality, the cosmos and consciousness; [2] Psychiatry and Neurology, [which] must be used to understand the mind, religious, esoteric and paranormal phenomena; [and 3] Linguistics and Archaeology, [which] provide us with an understanding of our ancient past and ancient beliefs." Whatever you might be interested in, amid the above, or feel is most relevant to you, or on the current stage of your life-journey, I believe you are likely to find a few, or many, enriching pages, which could motivate worthful reflection, if not more. • Judith Gay's Healings – Homeopathy + natural Healing available World-round, in addition to Free Distant Healing (Saturdays, 10 GMT), which you are welcome to request. This is an informative Web site, put up by someone interested in people's well-being (physical/emotional). • Idem per Idem – The most competent and well-assorted Homeopathic + Manipulation Pharmacy I have come across on-line! What you cannot find anywhere else, there is a good chance you will find at “Idem per Idem”! They make World-wide delivery (I can attest for their promptness, competence, and very affordable prices). • Adopt-a-Minefield – There's hardly any need to express the relevance of our support to the highly humanitarian work this organization has been engaged in. They are always in need of funding and support, needless to say. • SerenityHealth – An award-winning site, offering magnificent, unique relaxation products at discount prices. If stress is an issue for you, you should enjoy paying them a visit. • BalanceLog Software – An alternative weight control method: metabolism-based software for managing nutrition, fitness and weight. It is announced that it works both on PCs and PDAs. As far as I can see, this software allows you the comfort of custom-making your own nutrition and fitness life-style (versus following a certain diet or fitness program). • Dan's Chocolates ... and flowers too! – Since their founding day, the folks at Dan's Chocolates have donated a portion of every sale to one of their charitable partners! • On a diet? No problem: savor the luscious Dan's Sugar Free Chocolates! :) • Sitelutions, a division of InfoRelay Online Systems, Inc. – Wellness EGate's excellent Web Host: competent professionals, very moderately priced, plus 10% of their profits go to charities chosen by their customers! After having tried over ten different Web hosts, we found Sitelutions to be in a class of their own. I recommend them highly, for all the reasons above-given, and yet a few more. • eBay.co.uk Charity Auctions – Do you know that eBay at UK allows you to bid for charity on a number of auctions? We'll be placing a few related links here; but for the time being, you are welcome to take a look at MieNet's Welfare & Charity, if you are curious or interested. • SheetMusic Plus & Musician Store – Sister stores donating a percentage of their revenue to charity. I can attest for the high quality of their service. I buy my guitar strings from them, and use these on-line stores, as well, for CD's, VHS's, songbooks, sheet music, music gear, music software, and whatever else I may be needing. If you are a musician, I'd recommend very especially their “Minus One” Series! You can read here about this Series. • Kidsave International – Organization dedicated to finding homes for orphaned and abandoned children World-wide. Needless to say, they are always in need of funding and support. • Save the Children – We can help change the lives of children in need for just 79¢ a day. “Save the Children” also works at community level, providing community-based solutions that benefit many children and families. Again, all support and funding is of course very welcome. • “Hungry Children” Poem – by Chris Hannon, inspired on a visit to MieNet's Welfare & Charity. • Institute of General Semantics – This is the site of a non-profit, member-based organization, founded by Alfred Korzybiski. If, on the one hand, general semantics might be referred to as a sort of “humanistic linguistics centered on communication,” a true description would have to highlight that gs is, in reality, an approach to living, itself! The Institute of General Semantics publishes books, journals, and offers educational programs. There are, in addition, a couple of mailing lists (to my knowledge), one of which meant especially (though not exclusively) for beginners, where gs principles and Korzybiski's writings, and related ideas, are freely discussed. If you are interested in these, you are welcome to contact me, and I'll let you know how to subscribe. As Korzybiski's work, to this day, is very unique, I believe no short description would do it justice – thus, the best I can suggest is direct experience. Korzybiski's seminal work Science and Sanity: An Introduction to Non-Aristotelian Systems and General Semantics, however long and complex, is the best introduction to his ideas, therefore. You may have heard “the map is not the territory”...possibly the most well-known sentence in this book. • PsicoNet - La red psi en internet – Argentinian-based site centered on the psy-sciences and practices, meant primarily for scholars and professionals, but open to the general public as well, and reaching World-wide. Although the site, itself, has been written in Spanish, it also offers articles on a number of other languages (including English, of course), as well as a large scope of psy-related links, World-wide. “Hablar español” is hardly a pre-requisite, therefore. stress, as there is so much you may find useful, published and linked to, in English and other languages! This is a very interesting site for anyone interested in psychology, psychiatry, psychoanalysis, etc. • Life Answers – Free Numerology Readings, and Numerology-based reports (“forecasts,” and reports on issues such as love, relationship and career – free samples available). • Astrocenter.com – Site offering brief astrological reports via e-mail (daily or weekly, free or charged), additional insights into Chinese Astrology and Numerology, as well as the possibility of ordering natal charts and astrological reports (on-line). * Important Note * Astrocenter.com additionally offers a variety of both tutorials & tests that one can purchase, to take on one's own (IQ, Emotional Intelligence, job/career, general knowledge, sexuality, and color), said to have been developed by specialists in the respective areas. • Astrology.com – Very informative site, especially for those whose acquaintance with astrology is superficial. Personal astrology profiles, birth charts, compatibility reports, including free samples, are among the many services offered. A yet larger variety of tests (incl. free samples) than above-mentioned are available on this site, though no tutorials which I have been able to locate. Finally, at Astrology.com you can name a real star for free, whether as a gift, or for yourself (they take care of the $20, or so, fee in your behalf – if you'd like to name other stars, you'll be charged). I've tried the service – it was quite fun to make the original gift of a star!:) Once you name a star, you can “wrap the gift” in a number of creative ways (this is charged, but optional). Please know, in advance, that you'll be offered other mailings and/or services, as you try most of the above-mentioned free services; but these are all optional. You can get through without spending a single cent, and without having to sign up for anything you do not wish – just of course be attentive regarding the respective check-boxes. • Keen – Site gathering a good number of astrologers, tarot readers, and other psychic & spiritual practitioners, and offering a few free readings and consults, also by phone. Some of these practitioners are presented as having had their credentials verified (whatever exactly this means, I have not been able to see, as I briefly visited the site – that is, the information may be there, after all). • !Gerardus' Grist! – As he announces it, this is not a religious site. But what it really is, you are better off finding out, for yourself – for nothing compares to direct experience, anyway. Gerardus is a specially enlightened being, and so are his original writings, which he generously shares with everyone interested. No description would do it all justice – so if you are curious, as I've suggested, just follow the link and go experience “!Gerardus' Grist!”. It used to be possible (and must still be) to subscribe & receive a small daily dose of Gerardus' inspired poems via e-mail, at no cost. • New Civilization Network – The site used to be described as “a global network of people visualizing a better world and working on building it. A world of increased quality of life, freedom, fun and inspiration for all. A world where the needs of all of humanity are met.” I have not visited the site for a while, but am sure it honors the scope of its original goals. In addition to its enriching content, the New Civilization Network offers a large number of similar-minded links, among which Flemming's World Transformation site. • Earth Share – A site and organization concerned with caring for our Planet, and sharing a genuine interest regarding every environmental issue that can affect our world. They welcome donations and volunteers. They currently have a number of affiliate sites in the U.S. and in Australia, which they invite us to visit and support, as well. Earth Share requests to be credited with the following paragraph: Earth Share, a federation of America's leading non-profit environmental and conservation charities, promotes environmental education and charitable giving in workplace employee campaigns. For more tips or to find out how your workplace can help the earth, visit www.earthshare.org or call 1.800.875.3863. Don't forget to check their Earth saving tips, when you visit! Finally, please note that there are items which you can recycle (see this page) and which may automatically generate a small donation to Earth Share. • Inner Peace – Free Self-Counseling Software for Inner Peace. (They also request volunteers!) • CityKids – A non-profit, multi-cultural youth organization helping youngsters solve their challenges by asking questions and exploring the perceptions, feelings & facts about issues, as well as by learning the skills that can help make their voices heard. As a result, the young people involved learn how to improve their own educational status, take action in community service projects, and use their own creative and performing art skills to market positive messages to their peers (locally and nationwide). CityKids was started by cultural activist Laurie Meadoff, in New York City, 1985. At CityKids, youngsters deal with their own music, voices and issues, rather than those defined by others. Here's their philosophy, as highlighted on their homepage: "If you bring young people together from different racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds and challenge them to develop their own solutions, they will respond with energy, imagination, commitment and action." CityKids needs funding and support on personal, professional and corporate levels. • Share A Smile – A support group to those dealing with daily pain (mental/physical). A pleasant and cozy Web site, where you find poems, angels, personal accounts, and more. • The Animal Rescue Site – Our daily click on the purple box “Feed an Animal in Need” helps provide a bowl of food to rescued animals currently residing in a shelter or sanctuary. You can help yet further, also free of cost. Find out at their site! And make sure you click on the purple box, when you are there – it takes just a moment!
